The 2023 Mercedes-Benz C-Class was part of the new W206 generation, introduced in 2022. It adopted many of the advanced technologies and design cues from the flagship S-Class. Available as a sedan, coupe, and cabriolet, it featured a standard mild-hybrid powertrain and a modern, high-tech cabin. For the 2023 model year, the performance-oriented AMG C 43 sedan was added to the lineup.
Models and key features
- C 300 Sedan: The base C 300 sedan is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This powertrain produces 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Buyers could choose between standard rear-wheel drive and optional 4MATIC® all-wheel drive.
- AMG C 43 Sedan: This higher-performance variant of the sedan comes with a hand-built AMG 2.0L I4 turbo engine with hybrid assist, delivering 402 horsepower. It features standard performance 4MATIC® all-wheel drive, an AMG sport suspension, and an AMG sport exhaust system.
- Coupe and Cabriolet: The C 300 coupe and cabriolet models carried over from the previous generation for 2023. They were powered by a similar 2.0L inline-4 engine but without the new mild-hybrid system and featured a different design.
- Interior: The 2023 C-Class cabin is dominated by a portrait-oriented 11.9-inch touchscreen for the MBUX infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Standard interior features included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, and a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
- Technology and safety: An array of standard safety features came with the C-Class, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and a driver-attention monitor. Higher trims and optional packages included advanced tech like a 360-degree camera, augmented video for navigation, and adaptive cruise control. The 2023 C-Class earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS.
