ARNOLD RUPP, S.L. BARCELONA (SPAIN)

The Arnold Rupp, S.L. was founded in January 1989 as a wholesale company trading with telephone apparatus, PABX, telefax and answering machines, as well as with other telephonic specialities.

As a great enthusiast of antiques and fine arts, its managing director, Arnold Rupp, returned in 1993 from a business trip to England with several antique telephones in his luggage, showing them to his clients in Barcelona and Madrid and inquiring about a possible market for these nostalgic apparatus. The response was positive and the “Classic Telephone” range increased throughout the following years, as well as Arnold Rupp´s particular interest in these apparatus, which reflects in his private historical collection, including about 250 telephones, showing telephonic evolution from its beginning in 1876 until today.

Observing the different tasks in Arnold Rupp´s workshop, we realize how vast knowledge and professionality in the reparation and restoration process of antique telephones are necessary. Here we varnish wood with gum-lac, polish bakelite and posterior plastics, repaint or retouch metal cases, rewire and modify local battery telephones ( with cranks) so that the new owner can enjoy calling from his antique and unique telephone.

For Arnold Rupp the quality of his telephones has always been his most important goal, that must be achieved for every apparatus that leaves his workshop to find a new proud owner in U.S.A., Australia, Asia or any European country.

With a permanant stock of about 3.000 classic telephones, there is no doubt that the Classic Telephone Company of Spain is the most important company of this line in Spain and probably even in Europe.
